The hotel

The Schwarzer Bock has been a bathhouse since 1486 and calls itself Germany's oldest grand hotel. Its thermal water comes from the neighbouring Kochbrunnen spring. The hotel has around 140 rooms and suites.

The casino

The casino occupies the north wing of Friedrich von Thiersch's Kurhaus (1907). Games include roulette, blackjack and poker as well as slots. According to the official website, entry to both areas is free.

Good to know

Fyodor Dostoevsky lost his money in Wiesbaden in 1865 – the experience went into his novel “The Gambler”. After the 1872 ban, gaming resumed in 1949, in the Kurhaus since 1955.

Recent changes

Hotel Nassauer Hof, only about 290 m from the casino, has been closed for renovation since 1 January 2026; reopening is planned for around spring 2028.
